The Yerevan History Museum on Saturday hosted the opening of an exhibition dedicated to the 2,978th anniversary of Armenia's capital.

The event was attended by deputy mayors, and members of the Yerevan city council, the municipality’s press service reports.

The event, titled GOST-Made in Armenia, also marks the 85th anniversary of the museum.

“The years of Soviet rule marked a period of economic achievements for Yerevan. Major and minor enterprises were built, making Yerevan a leader with its gross product in several industries. The industrial enterprises’ goods were exported to other Soviet republics, and foreign countries. The demand was especially high for the brandy and wine, tobacco, shoes and carpets manufactured in Yerevan,” said the museum’s director, Armine Sargsyan.

The exhibition will run until late December. It will be open to public from 11:30 am to 05:30pm (Yerevan time) from Monday until Friday.
