The National Museum of Architecture on Friday hosted the opening of a graphic arts exhibition to honor the talent of a young Armenian artist killed during the four-day war over Nagorno-Karabakh.

The posthumous exhibition featuring 20 pieces by Adam Sahakyan, a student of the National University of Architecture and Construction, will last for a week. Most of the drawings are unfinished. There are also personal photos on display.

Speaking to Tert.am, the deceased hero’s mother, Gayane Antonyan, said she treats every single item as a relic and a piece of memory left behind by her son.  She said it was Adam’s early childhood desire to be a constructor and architect, a profession he had to leave unfinished to take up arms after the fighting erupted.

“They fought for 4-5 hours, killing more than 100 special detachment soldiers of the adversary’s army. Regrettably, all the eight died. Adam was the last, and he never retreated, sacrificing his life for his fatherland.”

The exhibition was also attended by Vice Speaker of the National Assembly Hermine Naghdalyan and Head of the State Urban Development Committee Narek Sargsyan.
