Bruce Lee's only recorded 'real' fight is revealed in stunning restored footage of him effortlessly flooring one of his top students

Bruce Lee was famous for his astounding athleticism and fighting ability both on camera and off it. 

As well as being a kung-fu movie star he also created his own martial art: jeet kune do, 'the Way of the Intercepting Fist', which was intended to be fast, fluid and capable of working as well in a street fight as in a ring, the Daily Mail reports.


Lee regularly sparred with his students, but only one of his MMA fights was recorded - and now it's been restored by YouTube channel Beerdy: Bruce Lee Central.


'This is the only recording of Bruce Lee in a real MMA fight. He's fighting Ted Wong here, one of his top students,' wrote Beerdy.


In the video, the two men are seen clad in dark black padding and gear - something that Beerdy claims were 'state rules' at the time.


It's not clear where the footage was filmed, but it was likely in California, where Lee had his school for jeet kune do, and where Wong studied.


Wong repeatedly tries to get close to Lee, who keeps his distance at all times, moving like lightning to deflect and disarm Wong whenever he gets close.


More than once, Wong takes a sharp uppercut to the face - but to his credit he keeps going.


The thick gloves might help both men in this instance, but Beerdy says Lee would have been happier out of them. 

“If not for those rules I can guarantee you that Bruce would have fought bare-knuckled,” he claimed.


Wong only studied under Lee and no other masters, and so went on to teach a 'pure' version of Lee's unique style of fighting.


He also wrote a series of books on the martial arts, and was inducted into Black Belt magazine's Hall of Fame as the”'Man of the Year” in 2006, when he was 69. 

 

Beerdy posted another video hours later in which he claims martial artist Richard Bustillo, who died this year, was present during the fight.
