Mr Robot's Rami Malek transforms into the late Freddie Mercury for Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody
The first photo of Rami Malek portraying Freddie Mercury was released on Tuesday.
And the Mr. Robot star looks uncannily like the flamboyant lead singer of the 1970's super group Queen.
”When you’re able to open your eyes and see a different person staring back at you in the mirror, it’s a very affirming moment,” Malek told People.
The 36-year-old actor will be portraying the famous singer in the Bryan Singer-directed Queen biopic titled Bohemian Rhapsody.
The film will follow Mercury after he teamed with Brian May and Roger Taylor in 1970 up until the band’s performance at Live Aid in 1985.
The new photo released is Malek imitating Mercury's style from the world-wide charity concert.
Malek said that his resemblance to the four-octave singer 'only adds to the level of confidence that one would need to play Freddie Mercury.'
In regards to the legendary voice, the movie will use a combination of Mercury's, Malek's, and a 'sound alike filling in the gaps'.
“We’re going to use Freddie as much as possible and use myself as much as possible,” Malek reported.
