The United States Embassy in Yerevan reaffirms their country's interest in Armenia's growing participation in US-led military trainings.

In a written statement submitted to Tert.am in response to an earlier request for comments (on the decision not to attend the Agile Spirit 2017 drills in Georgia), the Embassy appreciates particularly the Defense Ministry willingness to take part in NATO events co-sponsored by the US.

“We are pleased to see Armenia’s growing participation in US-led exercises with NATO partners, particularly in this region. Armenia’s recent participation in the Noble Partner Exercise in Georgia, for example, advanced ROLE II Medical Unit’s readiness to participate in global peacekeeping operations.  The Role II Medical Unit provided medical coverage for more than 2,000 soldiers from the seven nations that took part in the Noble Partner exercise.  With regards to Exercise Agile Spirit, I refer you to the Ministry of Defense for information on its decision not to participate.  The Ministry of Defense continues to express its interest in participating in upcoming US - and NATO–sponsored exercises to secure accreditation for its Medical and Counter-IED teams.  We welcome and look forward to supporting Armenia’s participation in relevant US-led exercises in the future.”
