Armenian producer's comedy show named winner of Russian award

A Russian-Armenian producer's popular comedy show has won a top prize at the TEFI 2017 annual award in Moscow.


Comedy Club, an entertaining TV project by Artur Janibekyan (the founder of Comedy Club Production and the director of the Russian TV channel TNT and Gazprom Media Holding) was named a laureate for 12 years running, Rusarminfo.ru reports.  


“We were among the laureates for 12 years without winning any prizes. The TV community wouldn't give us attention. And now, 12 years later, we are receiving your attention. Something is really wrong. We need  a change,” Janibekyan said, accepting the prize, a statue.


Roman Babayan, a Russian-Armenian anchor hosting the talk show Right to Voice, was named a winner in the category Top Prime-Time Talk Show Anchor.


Other Armenians participating in the contest were Karen Shahnazarov, Director General of the Mosfilm studios, and Alexander Akopov, the president of the  Russian Television Academy Foundation.


TEFI is an annual Russian TV award presented for the best achievements in television industries.
