Russian-Armenian artist Yevgeniy Vakhtangov dies
Yevgeny Vakkhtangov, a Russian-Armenian art academician, has died in Moscow at age 75.
The director of the Russian Academy of Fine Arts, he was the grandson of actor and director Yevgeny Vakhtangov, the founding director of the Vakhangov Theatre.
In a statement released Wednesday morning, the theatre expresses its grief over the academician's demise, extending its condolences to his family and loved ones.
No causes of the death are reported.
Vakhtangov's works are included in the collections of the Moscow Tretyakov Gallery and the St Petersburg Russian Museum, as well as several private collections in different countries.
