Yerevan hosts St Petersburg days
Deputy Mayor of Yerevan David Ohanyan and Vice Governor of St Petersburg Anna Mityanina on Wednesday attended the solemn opening of St Petersburg days in Armenia’s capital, reports the municipality’s press service.
Greeting the guests on behalf of Mayor Taron Margaryan, Ohanyan hailed the long-standing friendly relations between the two cities and the developing partnership in numerous areas of mutual interest. As an important effort towards boosting the dialogue, the deputy mayor highlighted the 2015-2020 cooperation program signed between Mayor Margaryan and St Petersburg Governor Georgy Poltavchenko. Ohanyan expressed hope that the two cities’ municipal authorities will be committed to expanding the mutual projects launched in the past years to make the cooperation more effective.
Thanking the deputy mayor for a warm reception, Mityanina also emphasized the importance of the program, highly appreciating its invaluable contribution to the continuing the partnership.
The organizers of a round table event organized on the sidelines of the ceremony screened a cognitive to introduce the participants of St Petersburg’s history and culture. Official representatives from both cities’ municipal councils later delivered speeches. The meeting was also attended by Armenia’s Honorary Consul to St Petersburg Hrayr Karapeyan and the head of the Yerevan municipality’s representation, Armenak Karapetyan.
