Mission Impossible: Fallout sets franchise box office record with $61.5m opening weekend
Coming on the heels of stellar reviews and great word of mouth, Mission Impossible: Fallout dominated at the weekend box office.
That domination resulted in Tom Cruise and company settting a new record for the franchise's Friday to Sunday opening by raking-in $61.5million in North America, the Daily Mail reports, citing Entertainment Weekly.
The action-thriller also posted huge numbers overseas, earning another $92million to bring the total global take to $153.5million.

Fallout has the benefit of hitting theaters as the best-reviewed of the six movies with a stellar 98 percent ranking on Rotten Tomatoes.
The film also marks the first time a Mission Impossible movie has ever received an “A” CinemaScore from moviegoers.
