Penelope Cruz dazzles in elegant one-shoulder gown as she joins husband Javier Bardem for LA screening of Loving Pablo

She portrays a Columbian author/ journalist who had an affair with infamous drug lord Pablo Escobar alongside real life husband Javier Bardem.

And on Sunday Penelope Cruz, Bardem and company hit the red carpet for a special screening of the Spanish drama Loving Pablo in West Hollywood.

The striking star looked incredible in a turquoise gown as she hit the red carpet with many of her co-stars.

The gorgeous number showed off the Spanish-born star's amazing figure.

It included an asymmetric neckline that showcased her toned upper-body and a slit down the left side so she can give a hint of leg at her discretion.

The Vicky Cristina Barcelona star wore her dark brown tresses long with some added waves and body.

She rounded out the ensemble with a pair of glamorous open-toed heels and an ankle bracelet for a little added pop.  

Cruz's husband of 8-years looked suave on the red carpet in a classic black two-piece suite, white dress shirt and black dress shoes.

The Oscar -winning actor was all smiles as he cozied up with his wife and posed with co-star Julieth Restrepo, director Fernando Leon de Aranoa and producer Dean Nichols.

The screening got some added star power with appearances by actors Edgar Ramirez, Andy Garcia and singer and songwriter Carol Connors.

Loving Pablo also star Peter Sarsgaard, David Valencia, David Ojalvo and Giselle Da Silva.   

It tells the controversial true romance of married drug lord Pablo Escobar (Bardem) and journalist Virginia Vallejo (Cruz). 

In a interview with Porter Edit, Cruz talked about working with her husband in the film, admitting they had to 'protect one another' from their unpredictable characters off-screen.

'The characters were very difficult, and they had lots of dark, uncomfortable scenes where this woman is having emotional and psychological terror inflicted on her by her partner.'

She added, 'I never like to bring my characters home with me, but it was especially important in this case for us to protect one another.'

Loving Pablo hits theaters in the US October 5.
