While a generation of millenial supermodels storming every runway, fashion house Dolce & Gabbana decided to take a step back in time in Milan on Saturday.

The Italian designers chose modern day fashion greats, including Emily Ratajkowski and Princess Diana's niece Lady Kitty Spencer, to rub shoulders with a host of fashion legends, including 53-year-old Monica Bellucci and 49-year-old Helena Christensen, to model all the hottest looks of the coming season, the Daily Mail reports.

The Gone Girl beauty, 27, certainly turned heads as she sported a cornflower blue dress with a sheer material and ruched body to help showcase all her curves, while Helena sported a sizzling LBD and Monica a polka dot number.

D&G as a brand has been open in recent years in its quest to have a more inclusive catwalk than others, so frequently turn their back on the recycled models of fashion week in favour of edgier choices.

While they were certainly the icons of their day, Helena and Monica have featured less on the runway - before their return on Saturday as they sashayed along the carpet in their exquisite finery.

Helena was clad in all the hallmarks of the fashion house - lace-up detailing, lingerie-inspired bodies, exaggerated floral accents - and pulled off the smouldering look with aplomb.

Monica was showing off her ageless good looks as she slipped her curves into a polka dot dress with black and white colouring while boosting her already leggy frame with staggering platform heels.
