Aznavour Foundation to launch ‘live center’ with scene opening to Mount Ararat
Aznavour Foundation has come up with the idea of launching a live center in Yerevan with a picturesque scene looking to Mount Ararat.
Charles Aznavour’s son unveiled the unique plan in a recent interview with RUSARMINFO.
Nicolas Aznavour said that the foundation, launched in 2017, will continue all the charity projects initiated by the great crooner after the 1988 earthquake in Armenia. Many of them propose a socio-economic development plan for the second largest city of Gyumri. The foundation will also embark upon educational and cultural-educational initiatives.
But main project will be aimed at opening the Aznavour Center at the top of the Cascade Complex. “The building remained empty for some time, as my father needed time to elaborate the concept. We spent two years working on that. He personally was against the idea of a museum and wanted instead to create a live space where everybody would be engaged in some kind of activity,” the singer’s son said.
He added that they also intend to build museum premises dedicated to exhibiting Aznavour’s life and cultural heritage. The family will donate the maestro’s piano, records and personal items to the center.
It is also planned to launch the first ever French institution in the region with a special media archive, exhibition hall, cinema hall and rest zone.
“The idea behind having a media archive is to create a leisure zone allowing [guests] to spend the time reading books, watching movies, visiting the museum premises to know more about my father, as well as enjoy a cup of coffee against the background of a scene featuring Mount Ararat.”
Nicolas Aznavour said they will elaborate an educational program in line with international standards to award certificates recognizable also in France.
Nicolas, who spent all his childhood in Switzerland, said in an earlier interview that he is now planning to learn Armenian to establish permanent residence in his ancestral fatherland.
