The first six films have made more than $3.5billion at the box office.
So it was hardly a surprise when Tom Cruise announced on Tuesday that parts seven and eight will soon be on their way.
Both he and director Christopher McQuarrie confirmed the next two installments of the action flicks will be filmed back-to-back, scheduled to arrived in two and three year's time, according to the Daily Mail.
“Summer 2021 and Summer 2022,” the 56-year-old Cruise tweeted, along with a GIF of a pair of lit fuses approaching the famous M:I logo.
McQuarrie meanwhile tweeted “Missions: Accepted #MissionImpossible”.
Cruise has starred in all six installments so far, as IMF agent Ethan Hunt.
Famously the actor performs most of his own stunts, which appear to get more perilous as the series goes on.
