Khachaturian's Sabre Dance performed at Putin-Kim Jong-un meeting
The Sabre Dance, the famous episode from the final act of Aram Khachaturian's ballet Gayane, was among the popular pieces of classical music played at a solemn reception following today's meeting between the Russian and North Korean leaders.
The participants of the event, held in honor of Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong-un and their officials delegations, also enjoyed South Korean songs, as well as hits from Russian classical music. A total of 10 performances were played, according to RIA Novosti.
Warmly greeting the guests from South Korea, Putin also offered a toast honoring the two countries’ friendship.
He said that his first official meeting with Mr Jong-un was conducted in a constructive and friendly atmosphere.
CNN reports that Putin treated the North Korean leader to classical Russian dishes, including crab salad, pelmeni (Russian dumplings) with deer, caramelized sorbet, etc.
