Margaret Thatcher's prized possessions emerge for sale in the U.S. for £30,000

Margaret Thatcher's prized possessions including her bible, heeled boots, and trademark 'power' skirt suit have emerged sale in the U.S for £30,000.

The possessions were originally sold by her estate following her death in 2013, when they were snapped up by a collector who is now putting them back on the market, the Daily Mail reports.
The Holy Bible was presented to the former Prime Minister by the Dean and Canons of Windsor in 1995 to mark her appointment as a Lady of The Most Noble Order of the Garter, and is expected to fetch £10,000.

A book of hymns Thatcher, whose father was a Methodist preacher, was given when still in office in 1989 is valued at £3,600.

The sale also features some of her distinctive outfits, including a navy blue silk and wool skirt suit made by Francois Neckar Couture of London she regularly appeared in in the 1980s and is set to sell for £2,400.

Thatcher's black wool winter coat, made by Aquasculum of London, carries the same estimate, while her waterproof faux fur 17ins high boots are expected to fetch £1,500.

An oak framed chair she kept in the study of her Belgravia home is tipped to sell for £4,800, with her black leaf patterned purse and some of her tea pots and china also going up for grabs. 

The sale, entitled Mrs Thatcher, Part III, is the third of its kind for the former prime minister's belongings.

The 192 items went under the hammer on behalf of beneficiaries of Baroness Thatcher's estate (not including Sir Mark Thatcher and his children) with some items sold on behalf of a charity.

The items were sold auctioned at Christie's in London.

Thatcher was leader of the Conservative party for 15 years and prime minister from 1979 to 1990.

She died, aged 87, in April 2013. The timed auction ends on Thursday.
