Frozen 2 picks up steam with $16.6M from 26 international markets
Disney's Frozen 2 is growing momentum, scoring $18.6M from 26 markets globally through Thursday, the Daily Mail reports.
All debuts made it to number one, and the franchise now boasts the biggest animated opening day of all time in Korea, Indonesia, Turkey, the Philippines, Malaysia and the UAE.
France and Germany are also among the key markets that have launched so far on the sequel.
China's opening day for the film, which was not included in the global figure, earned $11.4M.
The country's performance marks the best Disney Animation/Pixar opening day ever.
Frozen 2 also achieved the second highest animated opening day of all time in Belgium and the third highest animated opening day ever in the Netherlands, Singapore, and Thailand.
The film stars Idina Menzel, Kristen Bell, Josh Gad, Evan Rachel Wood, Jonathan Groff and more.
Its original release, Frozen, scored the title of highest-grossing animated movie ever, cashing in $400M in North America and $1.28B worldwide in 2013.
