Drive-in-movie theatres making huge comeback in Sydney
Sydneysiders will soon be able to enjoy the cinema experience again while adhering to social distancing rules with a new drive-in movie theatre opening.
The drive-in movie theatre, which will be based on the rooftop of the carpark at the Entertainment Quarter, will open on May 28, according to the Daily Mail.
The guys behind the outdoor cinema, Mov'in Bed, are bringing back the movie-going experience which became popular in the 1950s after traditional cinemas were forced to close due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Motorists will be able to watch a blockbuster film from the comfort of their car and tune their radio to get the sound.
Food and beverages, including pizzas, wine and beer, will be available be bought onsite and will be delivered to the visitors' cars.
Films will be shown from Wednesday to Sunday every week until August 30.
The line-up includes Grease, Harry Potter, Frozen, Joker and Muriel's Wedding.
The reopening of cinemas is part of stage two of the government's plan to ease restrictions Australia, which is still weeks away.
