Memorial to Aram Khachatryan to be erected in Russia's Nizhny Novgorod

A monument to Aram Khachatryan, a famous Soviet-Armenian composer and conductor, is going to be erected in the Russia city of Nizhny Novgorod, Rossaprimavera.ru reports.

The statue by Mikayel Soghoyan, a well-known Russian-Armenian sculptor, will be unveiled on the musician's birthday. which is traditionally celebrated on June 6. The artist said he received a request from the City Hall for completing the sculpture by the assigned date upon the initiative of the Nizhny Novgorod residents.

He added that the event will coincide with the celebrations marking the 800th anniversary of the Russian city.

The premises of the a cultural school named after the great composer is going to be the site of the monument.
