Vardges Vardanyan, president of the Noah football club and founder of Armenia Wine, has initiated the restoration of Kecharis monastic complex.

During the restoration work, as well as excavations carried out by the Vardanyan and Mkrtchyan families as part of this project, an early medieval church was discovered in the Kecharis monastic complex, built between the 11th and 13th centuries. The excavations uncovered not only the walls of the earliest church but also a number of outbuildings, providing additional information about the historical importance and development of the monastery complex.

Furthermore, over 100 tombstones were discovered, some of which bear inscriptions, allowing for the study of memoirs, social structure, and cultural characteristics of the period.

The scientific team notes that these finds are a valuable source for an in-depth study of the early development of the Kecharis monastic complex and the spiritual life of the region. Excavations continue, and experts do not exclude the possibility of new important discoveries in the near future.
