Nothing has changed regarding Armenia’s work within the CSTO. Armenia has effectively frozen its membership in the CSTO for several years, and, in essence, we do not see a path back. MP Sargis Khandanyan of the Civil Contract party stated this in the National Assembly, referring to a statement by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin that the issue of suspending Armenia’s voting rights in the CSTO could be discussed on November 11.

“We will follow developments and take note of the decisions made by our CSTO partners. I do not think there are any circumstances or reasons to intensify our participation in the organization.

You know what issues led to Armenia freezing its membership. In essence, those issues have not changed to this day. We have not even seen a single political statement condemning what happened in 2022–2023 with regard to the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia.”
