Կալիֆորնիայի Սանտա Մոնիկա քաղաքում կայացել է ԱՄՆ-ի ամենահայտնի կինոմրցանակաբաշխություններից մեկը՝ Critics' Choice Awards-ը («Քննադատների ընտրության կինոմրցանակ»), որն անցկացվում է 1996 թվականից: Մրցանակաբաշխությունն անցկացվում է հունվարին, և այդ պատճառով համարվում է «պատրաստություն» հեղինակավոր «Օսկար» կինոմրցանակաբաշխությանը:

Նշանակալի միջոցառմանը ներկա են եղել բազմաթիվ հոլիվուդյան աստղեր, որոնք փայլել են կարմիր գորգին: Հետաքրքրական է, որ դերասանուհիների մեծ մասը նախապատվությունը տվել է սպիտակ, կաթնագույն ու բաց վարդագույն երանգների հագուստներին:
