Architecture firm Olson Kundig released digital renderings of the world's first funeral home dedicated to composting humans, which is set to open in Washington state in 2021. It will be run by Recompose, a Seattle-based company which has spent the last two years working to bring the concept of human corpse composting to the public

The site in Seattle's SoDo neighborhood will feature a modular system of 75 reusable, hexagonal 'Recomposition Vessels'. Each body will be wrapped in a breathable sheet and sealed in a tub-shaped vessel surrounded by wood chips and hay to promote decomposition
